Kidney Research Projects
To investigate equity in access to best health outcomes.
AcceSS and Equity in Transplantation, New Zealand
Using the ASSET linked data platform, the ASSET project looks at how fairly health services for kidney transplantation are delivered in New Zealand. Sometimes the way health services are organised means some people do not benefit as much as others. We are interested in any advantages or disadvantages for different groups of people in the process of getting on the kidney transplant waiting-list, the time they need to wait for a transplant, and what happens to them after their transplant. Differences might be due to where they live, their sex, their race, their social situation, or their other health problems. The first three ASSET projects are:
- Investigating the dynamics and flow of the kidney transplant waitlist
- The impact of mental health co-morbidity on access to transplantation for New Zealanders with kidney failure
- Evaluate health outcomes and health service utilization following live kidney donation.
